Varietal Wine Roditis

Varietal wines are one of the four categories into which wines are distinguished.
The other three are wines with a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), wines with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) and plain or table wines.
Especially for varietal wines, it is allowed to state on their label, the year of harvest and their varietal composition, i.e. the variety or varieties from which the wine comes.
These are certified wines following a process to control both the harvest year and the varietal composition.
One of the most important varietal wines of Greece is Variental Roditis.
This wine comes from the eponymous variety, ¨Roditis¨, which is cultivated almost all over Greece and is the second most cultivated variety (cultivated on over 90,000 acres).
